Courtesy of Matt Opsahl, here a few links to a couple blogs talking about the Art Chantry show. Sadly, the club didn't get any mention, but its interesting to see what people thought of Art's presentation.

A Public Service Announcement from the President...

!ATTENTION!

Hello Club,
First of all, I want to give a sincere thank you to all of you who helped out with the event, from button designs to volunteers at the event, you guys rock!

Two additional notes for our club meeting next week:

Please design and bring with you a thank you card for Art Chantry. This is NOT optional, wether you were at the event or not, this was a Design Club event so I would like all of the design club members to create a thank you card. We all have talked about how we want to be taken seriously amongst the design community as design students, well this is an opportunity for us to show that we are serious design students.

Also, next week, I will be conducting some Art Chantry trivia. For those who can answer the questions correctly, will get an Art Chantry button pack... so do your research!

See everyone next week.

Art Chantry....F**K YEAH!!!!

Don't know about you, but that presentation was awesome.
We fortunately will at some point have most of it on video
on this very blog, as well as all of it in audio form.
Podcasts in our future? Maybe, probably not cause I don't
have time to find more cool people to get to talk to us
about design on tape, but if you do, let's talk. Here are
some pics from the event.

Upcoming and Current Projects....

Design Club Posters...
The deadline for design club posters will be Wednesday, October 31st by 12pm. I am aware that this is a tight deadline but I would like to try and get them produced before the end of the quarter. My intention is to produce posters with as many of the submitted designs as possible so our posters will look different all over the two campus'. The poster designs need to be 11x17, full color is fine, colorspace is CYMK, file format is up to you but MUST be print quality. Also, the posters must have the following information on them:

"Graphic Design Club"
"Wednesdays at 4:15pm"
"Room 704"

You can arrange this information or abbreviate how you choose, except, that "Graphic Design Club" cannot be abbreviated as "GDC" for this project since most people will not know what GDC stands for. Have fun with them, I look forward to seeing the designs. Email me with any questions.

Design Club T-Shirts...
The deadline for the design club posters will be Tuesday, November 6th by 12pm. You're welcome to adjust your poster designs to fit a t-shirt if you'd like, but I would also like to open this up for anyone who would like to design a different idea for the t-shirts. I will print out copies of all the t-shirt designs submitted and bring them into the design club meeting on November 7th. Each poster will be given a number and everyone who is at the club meeting on the 7th will get a ballot to cast a vote for the design they like best. The t-shirt designs must be no more than 2 colors. Make sure your designs are, again, print quality. The following information must be incorporated into your t-shirt design:

"Graphic Design Club" (can be abbreviated to GDC)
"aisgdclub.blogspot.com" (you can add the www, if you choose)
"Art Institute logo" (I will email these out to all of you when I get my hands on the logo)

"Horror" themed sticker pack...
The deadline for the sticker pack submissions will be Friday, November 16th . The specs are as follows:
Size: 4"x4" maximum
Colorspace: CMYK
Must have "GDC" or "Graphic Design Club" somewhere on the design.

Last but no least, our end of the quarter party...

I would like to get some comments/feedback on what everyone would like to do for our end of the quarter meeting, either let me know at the next club meeting or feel free to email me, thanks.

Transformers DVD Packaging....

Just wanted to show you guys the DVD
I bought today. The Transformers DVD
special Edition from Target is a package
that actually transforms into Optimus
Prime. While the execution is not the
greatest, the idea is pretty cool. Below
is a pic I snagged online cause I am
watching the movie right now and don't
want to get out my camera gear. I'll have
it with me tomorrow if anyone wants to
look at it.

"The 19th century called. It wants its graphic design club back." -Matt Eide

Hey everyone,
Below is a copy of the club email that was sent out yesterday for those who either aren't on my email list or for whatever reason didn't get the email.

We're only 8 days away from the Art Chantry event! I hope you've all registered for the event, I'd love to pack the place with as many AIS students as possible.

A big thanks to everyone who contributed button designs, they look great. The button packs will be created and put together this weekend so they're ready to go for the event.

Also congrats to our slaves *cough* I mean volunteers:
Chad Lundberg
Ross Patton
Matthew Eide
Rachael Ludwig
Matt Opsahl
Rachel Lam

As I expressed at the meeting, if any of you for any reason cannot make it to the event, please let me know asap so I can make sure we're covered for the event.

For anyone who was not able to make the meeting, we're trying again to get 20 students together for a group AIGA membership, priced at $50 per person. Currently I have 9 people so if any of you are interested and can afford the $50 let me know so I can add you to the list.

For this weeks meeting:
I would like to invite everyone to bring in any thumbnail ideas for GDC posters/t-shirts or any ideas anyone has for the sticker pack as well.

As always, feel free to contact me with any questions you may have, I look forward to seeing everyone Wednesday.

Thanks.

Give me your portfolio website so I can own your soul......

Not really, but do you see that list o links of portfolio
websites to the right of this post? It's pretty lonely
being the only one there. Please email me your sites
or post them in the comments here so I can add you
to the list.

Thanks!
